EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR


The criteria for Employer of the Year is similar to the Golden Nike Award. If an L.O. implements both programs, it is suggested that the Employer of the Year be a business and the Golden Nike Award be an outstanding politician of the community.

Each local organization should decide how it will select the Employer of the Year. Here are a few suggestions that might be useful in selecting an Employer of the Year:

  • Outstanding efforts on behalf of women and support of BPW issues, such as pay equity, equal rights, etc.;
  • Assistance to women in the advancement of their careers;
  • Outstanding guidance to youth and young career women;
  • Community service.
Be sure the press is aware that the presentation is being made and of the final candidates under consideration. Prepare a news release for newspapers, radio and tv. Send out advance notice informing the press of the time and place of the event, and be sure to make follow-up phone calls to the press a day or two before the event.

Employer of the Year certificates are available from the BPW Store for local organization use in honoring outstanding employers.
